Join The Eagle Rock Association (TERA), Abundant Housing LA, Eastside Housing for All for an Urban Hike through Eagle Rock! This 4-mile walk will explore Eagle Rock’s evolving landscape, housing history, and transit future. We will stop at key sites including a small lot subdivision, a controversial ED1 project, Occidental College, and the future Colorado Boulevard BRT route.
What You Will Learn at This Event:
1: How exclusionary zoning, ED1 streamlining, and local tenant protections shape Northeast LA.
2: The potential for building affordable housing on faith lands (SB 4) and reviving neighborhood corner stores.
3: Immediate ways to organize with Eastside Housing for All and TERA to advocate for transit-oriented communities.
Route & Accessibility Note: This hike includes a steep, unpaved trail over Fiji Hill. Attendees who prefer to skip the steep climb can proceed directly to the Oxy FEAST garden to rest and meet back up with the group. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water!

TERA is pleased to announce Sylvan Sounds: a FREE concert at the historic Sylvan Amphitheater in Yosemite Recreation Center featuring Jeff Parker Expansion Duo, a collaboration between acclaimed local musicians Jeff Parker and Jeremiah Chiu, with a separate set by experimental beat musician megiapa, and sounds by DJ Scottie McNiece.
We invite you to join us for this family-friendly event! Bring a blanket or seat cushion, a picnic and water, your friends, family, neighbors, and/or well behaved pups. We kindly request that you don’t smoke or bring alcohol into the park.
Sitting on a hillside adjacent to Occidental College’s campus, the Sylvan Theater was constructed in 1931 as an emergency jobs program project during the Great Depression. The amphitheater is accessible from Yosemite Drive, the La Roda Avenue cul de sac, and via a pedestrian gate on Campus Road.

Sylvan Sounds is an effort spearheaded by TERA’s Public Spaces working group. This initiative seeks to activate and improve Eagle Rock’s local parks and public spaces. TERA advocates for care through use, and is engaging with the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks to help maintain and improve the Sylvan Theater. Join TERA member Ryan Johnson on a FREE walking tour of picturesque Hill Drive with some short detours to talk about some local history. We’ll gather at Unincorporated Coffee (2160 Colorado) around 8:30am-8:45am to grab a coffee and will head out promptly at 9am.
Kids are welcome and the walk will generally be on flat streets. We will walk a 3 mile loop and should be back at Unincorporated Coffee around 11am.
This event is free but we welcome your donations, which will help us to plan future walks. TERA is a 501c3 nonprofit and donations are tax deductible within Federal limits.
Join TERA board member Colleen Corcoran on her favorite hillside streets, stairs, and trails in Eagle Rock. We’ll start at ROCK Coffee (4808 Townsend) for a coffee before we head out at 9am.
Kids are welcome, but we will be on some steep streets and trails where strollers are not accessible. Hiking shoes recommended! We will walk a 2.5 mile loop and should be back at ROCK before 11:00.
Our TERA Public Space Committee is working to highlight and improve walking and biking connectivity in Eagle Rock — on our boulevards, and neighborhood streets, our sidewalks, trails, stairways and parks.
We’re kicking off this work in 2026 with a walk led by TERA member Claire Bowin, an urban planner, landscape designer, ceramicist, and longtime Eagle Rocker. She’ll share with us her favorite route connecting Yosemite and Eagle Rock Rec Centers, and we’ll discuss walking, pedestrian safety, and the sites of Eagle Rock along the way.

TERA has been partnering with local organizations, community members and the Office of Councilmember Huizar to provide relief to vulnerable Eagle Rock residents:
COVID-19 Relief Fund — From generous donations by community members, we have distributed 100 debit cards (each with a $25 value) to vulnerable students, families, and residents through partnerships with Eagle Rock Jr./Sr. High School and local faith-based organizations. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community members, and our fund remains open for donation as the impacts of the pandemic continue to be felt. Senior Meal Program — With funding from the Office of Councilmember Huizar, TERA has partnered with the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council to purchase meals delivered to seniors from Eagle Rock’s own Bite Me Gourm-Asian restaurant. Read more about this effort in the Boulevard Sentinel.
Fruit Donations to Unhoused Residents — TERA has partnered with Food Forward, an organization that arranges for the donation of surplus produce to the food insecure. TERA has been participating in the Backyard Harvest program, whereby neighbors harvest fruit from trees in their yards and box them up for donation. TERA has been collecting fruit and allocating it to support ERNC members’ direct outreach and provision of goods as well as the temporary homeless shelter at Yosemite Recreation Center.
Help others by participating in the 2018 Northeast L.A. Sleeping Bag Drive benefiting Recycled Resources for the Homeless. Come out and donate sleeping bags, blankets, toiletry kits and warm clothes to the Eagle Rock City Hall, Sunday, August 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
One of the charms of Eagle Rock is its variety of small, local businesses. It’s hard for small businesses to compete with the big guys, especially now, as holiday shopping (and dining) season arrives. Small Business Saturday is a way to reconnect with and support our small, local businesses. Come show your support by participating in the 7th Annual WE HEART EAGLE ROCK on November 25, 2017.
